Egemosen is a tiny smallholding consisting of a number of strips of boggy ground, i.e. low-lying ground with good grazing and thus a perfect place for breeding sheep
We have chosen the Finnsheep breed even though they can be a little more demanding with regard to care, particularly in the lambing season and with regard to feeding.

In return each ewe delivers c. 2.5 lamb on average, we have tried much higher figures through flushing, but it becomes too problematic with the many small lambs, therefore the ewes are only fed high quality hay up to the lambing.
The meat quality is excellent. We get very good feedback on the meat quality from our customers.

The wool is another story, some of the best to be found.

Many Danish sheep breeders use Finnsheep to cross with other breeds to add some of the Finnsheep's qualities; the high fertility is particularly sought after.
